Sculptures, Inspiration coming from a mixture of ancient times, Hans Anderson and Greek mythology.
Petrusson has an incredible ability to forge and shape noble materials to his heart's desire.
My principle lies in giving birth to an object sculpred from mineral origin. The disused railway sleeper, the post-war helmet, old rivets, the shell of a post-war bomb. It's endless and exciting to revive these beautiful objects.
When I left for France I had to find a very special place to live and work. My brother-in-law from Lectoure took me one evening down a long leafy track, to a place he used to hang out with his mates. It was an 18th Century British red brick gas works which served as the first elecctricity power station for the village of Lectoure. Totally delapidated, trees growing up through the roof, I immediately fell in love with it and knew it was the place I had to live and work in for inspiration. As it had outbuildings as well I was able to create a forge. This was the epicentre of all my pieces of work. I had endless supplies of post industrial noble materials from local scrap merchants.
I wanted to work as a recuperation artist with objects saturated in history. History I could give new life to by turning it into a piece of art.
